Louise Lasser rose to fame in the early 1970s as a dithery housewife on Norman Lear’s ground-breaking television cult classic, “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.” In the 1980s she made notable appearances on “Taxi,” “St. Elsewhere,” and “Empty Nest.” Stage appearances include Barbra Streisand’s replacement in I Can Get It For You Wholesale and The Third Ear, written and produced by Elaine May. Lasser is also known for her roles in the films What’s Up, Tiger Lily?, Take the Money and Run, Bananas, Sing, Sudden Manhattan, Mystery Men, Requiem for a Dream, and Happiness. Lasser remains one of Hollywood's most offbeat icons.
